Questions, answered

Everything people ask before their first book.

Short answers, no fine print. The fine print lives in the terms and the disclosures, and we keep those short too.

What is VIG?

A parametric risk exchange. Every book is a simple question about tonight or the next few hours: will it rain more than X in Austin, will Boston delays pass Y minutes, will air quality in Lahore cross Z. You back the side you believe in with USDC from your own wallet. When the book closes, a public data source answers the question and the vault pays out accordingly.

How do I get paid when nothing happens?

Most nights are calm. When you back the house side of a book and the trigger does not happen, your stake comes back with the premium shown on the book. Premium is quoted before you back and is the rate that book settles at; a quote is a contract.

What is the trigger side?

The other seat. If you think the night will not stay calm, back the trigger side. When the trigger happens, the trigger side is paid from the vault. Public data decides, not us.

What can I lose?

At most the stake you locked for that book. There is no leverage, no margin, no credit. On the house side you lose part or all of the stake only when the trigger happens; stakes under $100 carry a starter shield that limits the loss, stated in the app before you back.

Where does my money sit?

In a smart contract on the Base network, in a vault for that one book. VIG never holds, pools, lends or invests your funds. The escrow contract is public: 0x78Ce8605BF5ae534CfF67284E9F13EA157244f81. If VIG has not settled a book within the grace period written in the contract, you can reclaim your own deposit from the contract yourself.

What decides the outcome?

Public third-party feeds: weather services, aviation delay data, air-quality monitors, price indices, scores. Each book names its source. When a feed cannot answer, the book settles void and stakes are returned.

What are Sprint books?

Three-hour books cut from live readings during the day: delays at an airport, wind at a station, air quality in a city. Same rules, shorter clock, capped at $1,000 per book.

What does VIG charge?

VIG keeps the unallocated remainder of a settled vault, which is the house share of trigger flow stated on each book. VIG never takes a fee on a clean settlement's premium. Network gas on Base is paid by you when you back.

Which wallets work?

MetaMask, Rainbow, Trust, Coinbase Wallet and Coinbase Smart Wallet, on desktop and phone. Signing in is one signature, once. Nothing is held by VIG, so there is no password to lose.

How do I add USDC?

Send USDC on Base to your wallet from any exchange, or buy it in the app with a card or bank account through Coinbase, which runs its own identity checks and sets its own limits and fees.

What is the $25 referral?

Every member has a link. When a friend joins through it and backs their first book, you both receive $25 in USDC on chain, the same day. Referral codes are personal and cannot be sold or posted publicly.

What is a room?

A creator-hosted board: five picks a night, one link. The host earns 5% of the premium their members collect, paid from VIG's share, never from theirs. Rooms unlock after ten settled books. Read the creator page.

Is VIG insurance or gambling?

Neither label fits and we do not use them. VIG is a two-sided exchange of parametric contracts that settle on public data. We are not an insurer and do not sell insurance. Our regulatory disclosures set out exactly what VIG is and is not.

Who can join?

Anyone 18 or older who owns the wallet they connect, with one account per person. It is your responsibility to confirm that backing books with USDC is lawful where you live.

Who runs VIG?

Grid Storm Capital LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. Registered office and contact details are on the contact page.

How do I delete my account?

Write to support@vighouse.app from the email you want us to answer, or use the contact form. We delete the account and its data; on-chain records cannot be deleted by anyone.
