Regulatory disclosures
What VIG is, what it is not, and what can go wrong.
Written for members, partners and regulators. Plain language, dated, and updated whenever anything here changes.
Read this first. You can lose the whole stake you lock on a book. Premium is not guaranteed. Nothing here is legal, tax or investment advice, and the regulatory treatment of products like VIG differs between countries and can change. This page states what VIG is, what it is not, and the risks, so you can decide with open eyes.
1 · The operator
VIG is operated by Grid Storm Capital LLC, a limited liability company formed in the State of Wyoming, United States, on 17 April 2026 (Wyoming Secretary of State filing ID 2026-001954427). Registered office: 159 N Wolcott St, Ste 133, Casper, WY 82601, United States. Contact: support@vighouse.app.
2 · What the product is
VIG operates a two-sided exchange of parametric contracts. Each book asks one measurable question about a future public reading (rainfall, flight delays, air quality, wind, an index level, a score) over a stated window. Members back either side with USDC. At close, the named public source answers the question and the book's vault pays the winning side by the rate quoted when each stake was placed. VIG publishes the source, the threshold, the window and the rate on every book before anyone backs it.
3 · What VIG is not
- Not an insurer, and not insurance. Payouts do not depend on you suffering a loss. VIG is not licensed as an insurer in any jurisdiction and does not sell insurance.
- Not a bank, broker, exchange or investment adviser. VIG is not registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and does not give investment advice. Books are not securities offerings and are not marketed as investments.
- Not a money transmitter or custodian. VIG never takes possession of member funds. Stakes move from your wallet into a public smart contract and back; VIG signs settlements but cannot move funds to itself outside the rules written in that contract. Card and bank purchases of USDC are performed by Coinbase, a regulated provider, under its own licences.
- Not a deposit. USDC held in your wallet or locked in a vault is not a bank deposit and is not insured by the FDIC or any deposit scheme.
Where a regulator concludes that a book type is a regulated product in its jurisdiction, VIG will restrict or withdraw that book type there.
4 · The escrow contract
Stakes are held by a smart contract on the Base network at 0x78Ce8605BF5ae534CfF67284E9F13EA157244f81. It holds one vault per book, releases a vault only against a settlement signed by VIG that cites the source of record, and lets any depositor reclaim their own stake if VIG has not settled within the grace period written in the contract. The contract has passed its own test suite and has not yet had an independent audit; until it has, the total value the contract may hold is capped at 200,000 USDC. Smart contracts can contain defects, and blockchain transactions are final.
5 · Financial crime controls
- VIG adopted a written anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing policy on 6 September 2026, kept by the Managing Member and available to regulators and banking partners on request.
- Every wallet address that connects is screened against the public Chainalysis sanctions oracle on chain, at sign-in and before any stake is recorded. Sanctioned addresses are refused.
- Card and bank purchases of USDC pass through Coinbase's identity verification. VIG itself does not collect identity documents.
- One account per person, an age floor of 18, and escrow caps limit exposure while the platform is small.
6 · Eligibility and your responsibility
You must be 18 or older and the sole owner of the wallet you connect. Laws on parametric contracts, prediction markets and stablecoins differ by country and by U.S. state. It is your responsibility to confirm that using VIG is lawful where you live. VIG does not currently block by location and may introduce restrictions where the law requires them; any such change applies to books that open after it.
7 · Risk statement
- Loss of stake. On the house side you lose part or all of your stake when the trigger happens; on the trigger side you lose it when the night stays calm. Starter shields, where shown, reduce but do not remove this loss.
- Data risk. Feeds are run by third parties and can be late, revised or unavailable. A book whose feed cannot answer settles void and returns stakes; a feed that answers is final even if later revised.
- Technology risk. Smart-contract defects, network congestion, wallet errors and lost keys can delay or prevent settlement or access. VIG cannot recover a wallet for you.
- Stablecoin risk. USDC is issued by a third party and carries that issuer's credit and operational risk.
- No income guarantee. Past clean settlements do not predict future ones. Rolled rates, projections and pace figures shown in the app are arithmetic on assumptions.
8 · Fees and conflicts of interest
- VIG earns the house share of trigger flow stated on each book, and a stated share of a hedger's premium on listed books. VIG takes no fee on a clean settlement's premium.
- VIG's own treasury may seed or top up the premium on some books so that quoted rates are honoured, and pays the shielded part of small stakes. When it does, VIG stands on the opposite side of members on that book. Pricing is set by a published rule, not book by book.
- Creator hosts earn 5% of the premium their members collect, paid from VIG's share. Hosts are not advisers and are not paid to recommend any particular side.
- Referral bonuses are paid by VIG from its own funds.
9 · Taxes
Premium you collect and losses you take may be taxable where you live. VIG does not withhold tax and does not issue tax forms. Your full history is exportable from the app and visible on chain.
10 · Complaints
Write to support@vighouse.app with the book ID and your wallet address. We acknowledge within two business days and answer in writing. Settlement disputes are decided against the named source of record; if the source was misread, the vault is re-settled at VIG's cost.
